Welding Camera System for Training and Instructional Welding Environments
The Weld-i® EDU HDMI Weld Vision Camera Kit is a compact, cost-effective welding camera system that delivers a clear, shared view of the welding process for training and instructional environments. Engineered to maintain visibility of the weld puddle, electrode, and base material during live welding, the system enables instructors and students to observe and discuss the same weld in real time, while also capturing the process for playback and review. This allows welding education sessions to extend beyond the live weld, enabling instructors to revisit and analyze technique with students after the fact.
This HDMI-based welding camera kit provides full HD imaging with integrated arc-bypass processing and IR illumination, keeping the weld scene visible despite arc brightness and glare. Its plug-and-play design connects directly to any HDMI display without requiring a PC, supporting fast setup in classrooms, labs, and welding training facilities.
A single optimized operating mode supports a wide range of welding processes, including MMA (stick), GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and FCAW, across materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The included f=25mm and f=42mm lenses support typical working distances of ~6 - 17 inches (160 mm - 450 mm), and are interchangeable to adapt to different viewing and setup requirements. Replaceable lens covers protect the optics and help maintain consistent image clarity over time.
The system includes 10-meter power and fiber-optic cables designed to resist electromagnetic interference and high-frequency noise common in welding environments. This allows the display and operator to remain positioned at a safe distance while maintaining a stable, real-time image.
For more flexible setups, the welding camera can be paired with a lithium battery* and an HDMI wireless transmitter* to enable standalone operation with wireless video transmission. The system also supports integration with video capture devices, allowing sessions to be recorded for review, documentation, and reuse in welding training programs.
Operating at up to 60 fps, the camera captures weld puddle behavior and arc stability with clarity, supporting more effective observation and instruction. The system is rated for operating temperatures up to 185° F (85° C) and can be paired with a copper heat sink* for use in higher-temperature environments.
Lithium battery, wireless transmitter, and copper heat sink not yet available.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What welding processes does the Weld-i® EDU support?
The Weld-i® EDU welding camera supports MMA (stick), GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and FCAW welding processes across aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
Do I need a PC to run this welding camera system?
No. The Weld-i® EDU connects directly to any HDMI display. No PC is required.
What makes this welding camera suitable for training environments?
The system provides a live shared view of the weld puddle for instructors and students simultaneously, with simultaneous recording for post-weld review and repeatable instruction.
How does the camera maintain visibility during the arc?
Arc-bypass processing combined with IR illumination keeps the weld scene visible despite arc brightness and glare without washing out the image.
Can the Weld-i® EDU be used wirelessly?
Yes. The system can be paired with a lithium battery and HDMI wireless transmitter for standalone wireless operation. Call InterTest and ask about wireless transmission for your application.
What is the working distance for the camera?
The included f=25mm and f=42mm lenses support working distances of approximately 6–17 inches (160–430mm).
